COPPERBELT UNIVERSITY QUALIFIES TO FINAL ROUND OF THE CYBER VERSE 1 NIGHT COMPETITION

In a thrilling display of talent and prowess, a team of brilliant Copperbelt University students has shattered all expectations, advancing
to the final round of the prestigious Cyber Verse 1 Night Competition. With their exceptional skills and dedication, they have carved a
path to glory, proving that the future of cybersecurity lies in the hands of the young and innovative.
A Combined Team of 5 Students namely; Arthur Mulopa, 4th year Computer Engineering, Makai Makai, 4th year Computer
Engineering, Basswell Mbilima, 4th year Computer Science, Zimba Isaac J. 2nd year Computer Science, and Bulaya Mwanaute, 2rd
year Computer Engineering, from CBU’s School of Information and Communication Technology participated in the event organised by
Digital Safe, which started on Saturday 29th around 10.00 hours and ended on Sunday the 30th of July 2023 at 10.00 hours.
From the very beginning, this dynamic team of cyber enthusiasts demonstrated unwavering determination, overcoming numerous
challenges and obstacles that came their way. The competition, renowned for its intense complexity and real-world scenarios, put
their skills to the ultimate test. But they stood tall, facing each task with a tenacity that was nothing short of awe-inspiring.
Hailing from diverse backgrounds and educational disciplines, the students combined their unique strengths to form a formidable unit.
Their synergy was palpable as they delved into the intricacies of cyber threats and vulnerabilities. United by a shared passion for
cybersecurity, they strategized, brainstormed, and executed flawlessly, setting an example for all aspiring cybersecurity professionals.
The Cyber Verse 1 Night Competition, renowned for its realistic simulations and cutting-edge scenarios, has earned a reputation as
one of the most challenging cybersecurity events nationwide. It attracts top talent from universities countrywide, making it a true
battlefield of the best and brightest minds. Out of the 12 high ranking Institutions that participated, the team emerged 3rd in the
competition which qualifies them to participate in the final round of the competition to be held in Lusaka on the 26th of August 2023.
As the final round approaches, the excitement in the air is palpable. The team is gearing up for the ultimate showdown, eager to seize
the chance to showcase their abilities and leave an indelible mark in the realm of cybersecurity. They understand that the competition
will only intensify, but their resolve remains unyielding.
Regardless of the final outcome, this achievement has already cemented their place in the annals of cybersecurity history. Their
passion and dedication have shown the country that the future of cybersecurity lies not just in the hands of seasoned professionals
but also in the relentless spirit of students who dare to push boundaries.
